A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §16-1-14a, relating to sanitarian employees of the Division of Health; providing for a twenty five percent across-the-board salary increase; and providing for an annual cost-of-living increase.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated §16-1-14a, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 1. DIVISION OF HEALTH.
§16-1-14a. Sanitarians' salaries.
On July 1, 2009, any sanitarian, as defined in section two, article seventeen, chapter thirty of this code, who is employed by the Division of Health shall receive a salary increase in an amount equal to twenty-five percent of his or her salary on that date. Thereafter each sanitarian shall receive an annual cost-of-living salary increase in an amount equal to the annual rate of inflation as calculated by the West Virginia Division of Labor.

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to provide for a 25% across-the-board salary increase for sanitarian employees of the Division of Health to bring their salaries into parity with county sanitarian employee salaries, and to additionally provide for an annual cost-of-living salary increase.
